My Grandma's Old Yet Trusty Sewing Machine

I'm an avid reader of various DIY and sewing blogs. And a number of those blogs have mentioned how old sewing machines are still the best. But they also mentioned how rare those machines are. Fortunately for me, my grandmother owns one. I can still remember watching her whenever she's doing a project when I was very young. I never thought I'd be sitting in front of that same sewing machine about two decades later.

Before anything else, I have to mention that I don't have any experience with newer sewing machines so I can't really compare. Putting that aside, here are some of my observations and comments about using my grandma's old sewing machine.
  1. The use of the pedal needs some getting used to. It's a little heavy on the feet so you really need to apply force into the step.
  2. It produces this tiny squeaky noise when you pedal. But it's tolerable. You can easily get used to it.
  3. The hoops and all those other holes where the thread is connected are a little tight. I've broken the thread twice because of this. Though my grandma said I just pulled too hard that's why it broke.
Overall, I really enjoyed learning how to use this old sewing machine. Hopefully, in the future, I will be able to recreate some of the DIY projects that I read from my blogroll.

New Fabrics

Lately I've been fascinated with other fabric crafts. I especially like those floral and busy prints. So I got myself some for making a few projects.
